Contextual Inquiry
-
The team interviewed 8 individuals living in and around the Ann Arbor/Ypsilanti area. Individuals are mid-career professionals, ranging in age from late twenties through late fifties. All are active walkers. Following the interviews, the team captured affinity notes and arranged them in a wall. Using an affinity wall to organize and group notes helped the team identify salient findings and themes.

Key Findings
-
- Things that could stop a person from walking or exercising include getting sweaty, working the whole day, or bad weather.
- Using a device can either promote or hinder walking experiences.
- Walking can be either a social activity or a solitary thing with time to think quietl
- A “vibe” about safety is affected by lighting & number of people around. Specific past encounters inform, but do not deter, some walkers.
